#4 Why People Stay Stuck and How to Break Free

"Most people aren’t stuck. They’re just addicted to their comfort zone."

Welcome to The Journey Home Podcast
In this episode, I’m tackling one of the biggest challenges I see people face: staying stuck. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve done everything right but you’re still not moving forward, you’re not alone. The truth is, we often stay stuck because we’re avoiding something deep down, and we don’t even know what that thing is. Today, we’re breaking down the causes of this stuckness and how to break free from it once and for all.

In This Episode, You’ll Learn:

[03:00] The Real Reason You Feel Stuck

Personal Story: How I Overcame Being Stuck

[14:00]
I’ve been there—stuck in patterns, telling myself I would change “next week” or “when I have more time.” But those excuses were signs of deeper fears holding me back. In my own journey, I had to confront these fears head-on and take small, intentional steps to break free from them. Today, I’ll share how I moved forward by making one small change at a time, and how you can do the same.

Why People Stay Stuck and How to Break Free

[18:00]
Here are the main reasons people stay stuck, and how to break free:

  •  Fear of Change: Fear isn’t always obvious—it can be hidden in your mind and emotional system. If you’re avoiding change, it’s likely due to this deeper fear.
    •  Reflection Prompt: What are you avoiding because you fear the unknown?
  •  Procrastination and Avoidance: These are forms of self-sabotage. You know what you need to do but avoid it anyway. The key to overcoming this is taking one small step toward change.
  •  Subconscious Sabotage: Often, our subconscious mind keeps us in old patterns, pushing us away from change. Acknowledge the resistance and take intentional steps to break the cycle.

The Three Key Steps to Break Free from Stuckness

[21:00]
Here are the actions I recommend to stop feeling stuck and start moving forward:

  1. Do the Opposite
    •  If your brain tells you to stay in bed or keep putting things off, do the opposite. Get up, get outside, and break the cycle.
    •  Keywords: breaking patterns, new habits, overcoming resistance
  1. Change Your Input
    •  Change what you’re feeding your brain. If your environment and mindset aren’t shifting, you won’t move forward.
    •  Keywords: mindset shift, environment change, personal development
  1. Take One Small Step
    •  You don’t need to change everything at once. Start with one micro step today to shift your path.
    •  Keywords: small steps, progress, momentum, breaking free
